Unisex Outdoor Activity Bags

Outdoor activity bags are more than just hiking packs, they can be used anywhere. Nylon and Polyester are the best choices for fabric since they are durable and waterproof. The descriptions for each are only a few of the functions. Below is an olive backpack that is made of polyester with wide padded straps, waist belt, multiple pockets and weighs 3 pounds.

Backpacking is a great way to exercise outdoors by taking a long hike in nature. Going with another person or more is advised to be safe. You can go for a few hours, a full day or spend a night or two taking a compact tent along. Plan appropriately making sure you pack what you need which may include food, a first aid kit, a map, flashlight, lighter, matches, an extra set of clothes, umbrella, sunscreen, medication and anything else you may need for your hike. The blue hiking backpack is nylon, spacious with compartments, has a waist belt among other features and weighs 1 pound.

Choosing the right backpack for your items can benefit when in comes to placing everything in areas where they are easy to access. Having outside pockets across the front or the sides for a drink should be included. You don’t want to dig into the backpack for your mobile phone or a drink along with a couple of band-aids placing in a front pocket for convenience while leaving the first aid kit inside. The green mix camouflage style is polyester, has wide padded straps, a waist belt for support and weighs 3 pounds.

There are many styles to choose from that may have a chest strap for better support or a waist strap with padding for comfort. Wide straps over thin ones are advisable also especially for avoiding any marks on your shoulders. The weight of your backpack should not be too heavy therefore placing food in baggies for example instead of plastic containers would be a benefit. The lighter that bag, the better for less strain on your shoulders, back and legs. The orange and brown backpack has many details like the others and weighs 5 pounds.

Finding a breathable, strong water resistant/waterproof fabric should be considered. You don’t want the weather to end up with rain soaking through your backpack. A polyurethane coating with a durable water repellent finish is perfect. They are usually natural or synthetic that are coated with waterproofing materials such as rubber, polyvinyl chloride, polyurethane silicone to name a few.

Fabrics include canvas for its strength and flexibility, leather for its strength also along with being water resistant and the most popular choices for the outdoors are nylon and polyester for being strong and waterproof.

I have an article called eBags Luggage Packing Cubes that includes an interesting video on how to use them!

Click on Women’s Purses and Handbags for information about them, to read and shop for men’s click on Men’s Bags and Accessories. The option to shop for both are to the right on my sidebar where I have several merchants listed.

Unless otherwise stated, the bags for this article I chose from various merchants for the specific style I needed to write this article.

Hi Patsy, fantastic article and some great advice about picking the correct backpack depending on your needs.
I like the look of your last backpack and have a similar model and they make the best packs for long hikes.
Is there a version of backpack that is lighter than 5 lbs with the same features?

    1. Patsy

      Hi Earl, thank you!

I know quite a bit about bags and also do my research for more information, hoping to help as much as I can.

There are many versions that are much lighter, I had so many to choose from for my article. You can find them by clicking on the eBags banner on the sidebar to the right where all the backpacks shown here are available, and I also have my Modern Man Bags merchant that is mentioned in this article to click on the ‘Mens’ Bags and Accessories’ link. They have hundreds of styles there to choose from.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope to see you back soon!

Thanks for the detailed review Patsy! I’m looking for a lightweight backpack to use as a daily driver for cycling to work and also doubling up as a bag for the weekend when walking. The blue hiking bag looks like it will fit the job nicely.
Great to see you have a section for men’s bags too. Wonderful!
